C.G.M offer a complete Category 5, 5e, 6 LAN cabling. In addition
our Cabling engineers are able to install data centre cables.
Category 5, 5e and 6
Cat5 is a 4 pair (8 wire) twisted pair copper cable. Cat5 568B
class D cable is capable of running up to 100Mbps, and comes in shielded (FTP /
STP) or unshielded (UTP) cable, with UTP being the most commonly used cable.
Cat6 is also a 4 pair (8 wire) Twisted pair copper cable. However
by manufacturing the cable to a higher quality, with more refined
twisting of the copper pairs, Cat6 is capable of running to data rates of
1000Mbps. Due to the higher specification of Cat6, testing from end to end is a
vital part of ensuring the quality and integrity of the installation.
Structured cabling for your modern building needs
Cat5e cabling is a very versatile and cost effective cabling
system which can be used (with adapters where appropriate) for the following
different services:
- Voice (analogue & digital)
- Ethernet
- Fast Ethernet
- Basic Rate ISDN (2B+D)
- Primary Rate ISDN (30B + D)
- Remote keyboard/monitor/mouse (via line drivers)
This means you cut down installation costs, by having one type of
building cabling rather than many different sorts for different applications.
